Virtual Vacations on the North Shore: Adapting in the World of COVID-19

The times, they are a-changing. That couldn’t be any truer these days. With the entire world adjusting to these unprecedented circumstances, it has become quite clear businesses and brands must do the same to remain relevant.

Social distancing and isolation have become a way of life, causing many to cancel plans – including highly anticipated, and much needed, vacations. Naturally, this has impacted the travel industry immensely. How can a destination meet their audience’s needs when their audience can’t even visit them?

The answer, virtually.

Together with our client, Odyssey Resorts, we have created a way for fans and followers to experience the North Shore they know and love from the safety of their own home. Complete with live streaming events on Facebook, Lake Superior webcams and downloadable Zoom backgrounds, the only thing missing is the fresh lake air! Through sharing on social, creating a designated virtual vacation landing page and getting the word out with the help of the media (check out the story!), North Shore lovers can breathe a sigh of relief knowing they’re just a click away.

Check out the full Odyssey Resorts Virtual Vacations landing page.

It is times like these we are challenged to come up with new, innovative ways to be present in our audience’s lives.

Brands must keep up with these constantly shifting ways of life we’re experiencing. It helps to remember that we are literally all in it together, navigating these uncharted waters. We’ll leave you with the biggest takeaway of all, when they can’t come to you, you need to go to them.
