Russell Herder Recognized with Two Awards for Best Digital Health Resources

Strategic marketing firm Russell Herder was once again recognized among the world’s best for digital health resources marketing by the National Health Information Resource Center. Two projects the firm created received Digital Health Awards.

The first is an animated video produced for Sycamores, a southern California- based behavioral health and social services provider. “The Story of 988” was honored in the Digital Health Media category with a Gold distinction. Russell Herder created the video to increase public awareness of the national 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The lifeline provides free, confidential support for people in distress, as well as suicide prevention and crisis resources 24 hours a day. 988 is a national network of over 200 local crisis centers, combining custom local care and resources with national standards and best practices. Sycamores’ programs and services positively impact the lives of more than 18,000 people a year in Los Angeles and Riverside Counties.

A long-time partnership between RH and the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), also received a Digital Health Award. DHS’“Know the Dangers” campaign was recognized in the video category for the ““Opioids ABC” music video. DHS created the Know the Dangers campaign in response to the opioid crisis and as a way to provide clear, fact-based information, and access to recovery programs and harm reduction resources. This is the second year in a row the Know the Dangers campaign received a Digital Health Award.

For the video, Russell Herder partnered with artist Benny Roberts on the project. Roberts wrote the spoken word piece and filmed an accompanying video to tell the story of how drugs like fentanyl and heroin are negatively impacting African Americans. The video recently debuted at a high school event that engaged students and educators alike.

The Digital Health Awards is an annual competition that recognizes the world’s best digital health resources. A panel of experts in digital health media served as judges and selected the most highly ranked from more than 500 entries. The Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), organizer of the Digital Health Awards, is a national information clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields.
