Whether prescription opioids, counterfeit pills, or fentanyl, the opioid crisis continues to brutalize individuals and communities. When Minnesota’s Department of Human Services asked us to build a website about the dangers of synthetic drugs, we recognized the need for an online resource that could adapt as the issue evolved. We created KnowtheDangers.com as a consumer-friendly website with current opioid information, recovery resources, cultural community content, a naloxone finder map, and more.
The Minnesota Department of Health needed to share messaging about mental health and the value of the 988 Lifeline, especially within African American, American Indian, Asian American, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ communities. During the COVID-19 crisis, the loss of highly respected emergency physician Dr. Lorna Breen deeply shook the nation’s medical community. Her death by suicide exposed the hidden toll on pandemic workers. In response, her family founded the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes Foundation to advance legislation and protect medical providers seeking mental health support without fear of repercussions. We created a video for the foundation that reached wide audiences through media coverage, appeared on the foundation’s website, and adapted seamlessly for multiple social media formats.
